About GramsToTeaspoon.com

Why GramsToTeaspoon.com was built, where our ingredient density data comes from, how we check it, and the ideas behind the converter.

Welcome to GramsToTeaspoon.com. We built this tool because bakers, chefs and home cooks face the same small problem all the time:“My recipe needs 10 grams of salt or 15 grams of sugar. I only have spoons. How many teaspoons is that?”

Most tools treat every food like water (1 g = 1 mL). That leads to flat cakes and salty meals. In truth, a teaspoon of dense table salt weighs 5.69 grams. A teaspoon of light icing sugar weighs just 2.50 grams. Our goal is simple. We give you the true weight of each food, with a live spoon on your screen that fills as you type.

What Makes Our Tool Different

  • Real food weights: Each food has its own tested weight per spoon.
  • Live 3D spoons: Watch the spoons fill to the right level as you change the numbers.
  • Spoon sizes you can use: You get sizes like 1 ¼ tsp, ½ tsp or 2 ½ tsp, not long decimals.
  • Spoons from around the world: Switch between US (4.93 mL), metric (5.00 mL) and old UK (5.92 mL) teaspoons.

Who Runs GramsToTeaspoon.com

GramsToTeaspoon.com is an independent kitchen guide. It was founded by, and is owned by, Shoaib Siddique. We are not tied to any food brand, tool maker or recipe site. No company pays to have its products listed or ranked. The site has one job: to turn recipe weights into spoons you can trust, and back again.

How Our Density Data Is Built

Each result starts from one number: how many grams of that food fit in a teaspoon. We take this from cup weights that are well known in home and pro baking. For example, a US cup holds about 200 g of white sugar, 125 g of plain flour and 273 g of fine table salt. We then divide by 48, the number of teaspoons in a US cup. For liquids, we take the weight of 1 mL and multiply it by 4.93, the size of a US teaspoon in mL.

  • Brands are kept apart: Morton and Diamond Crystal kosher salt each get their own entry. A teaspoon of one weighs close to twice as much as the other.
  • We say how we measure: spoons are level, flour is spooned in loose, and brown sugar is packed. That is how most recipes are written.
  • Spoon sizes are exact: we use the US teaspoon (4.92892 mL), the metric teaspoon (5 mL) and the old UK teaspoon (5.91939 mL) as exact sizes. We do not round them.

What We Stand For

  • No guesswork: Yeast for bread or honey for a dressing, you get a result you can trust.
  • Fast and easy: Results show up at once, with no page loads and no pop-ups. It works well on your phone too.
  • Your data stays yours: All the math runs in your own browser. We never collect or store your recipe notes.

Accuracy and Corrections

Real food changes with the crop, the grind, the brand and the damp in the air. So any spoon result is a close guess, not a lab test. When a reader tells us a value does not match their scale, we check it again. If it is wrong, we fix it. When a bake must be exact, we always suggest a digital kitchen scale. Our Terms & Conditions give the full note on accuracy.
