How Instant Coffee Converter Works?

The Instant Coffee Converter works by dividing grams of instant coffee by 1.5 g per level US teaspoon of freeze-dried granules. Spray-dried powder packs heavier than granules.

  1. Check the form

    Freeze-dried granules fit the 1.5 g value. Fine spray-dried powder weighs up to 2 g per spoon.

  2. Enter grams

    Type the weight, such as 2 g for a 240 mL (8 fl oz) cup.

  3. Dissolve

    Stir the measured coffee into hot water at 85–90 °C (185–194 °F).

Instant Coffee Converter Formula

The Instant Coffee Converter formula is teaspoons = grams of instant coffee ÷ 1.5.

tsp = g ÷ 1.5 | 1 tbsp = 4.5 g | 1 cup ≈ 1–2 tsp

  • 2 g of instant coffee ÷ 1.5 = 1.33 tsp, about 1 ⅓ tsp.
  • 9 g of instant coffee ÷ 1.5 = 6 tsp (2 tbsp) for dalgona coffee.
  • 1 tbsp of instant coffee = 4.5 g.
