How Yogurt Converter Works?
The Yogurt Converter works by dividing grams of plain yogurt by 5.2 g per US teaspoon. Regular stirred yogurt has a density of about 1.05 g/mL.
Stir the yogurt
Stir in any whey that sits on top. Whey changes thickness and spoon weight.
Enter grams
Type the weight, such as 60 g for a marinade.
Level with a knife
Fill the spoon and level. Yogurt holds its shape, so a domed spoon adds 20% extra.
Yogurt Converter Formula
The Yogurt Converter formula is teaspoons = grams of yogurt ÷ 5.2.
tsp = g ÷ 5.2 | 1 tbsp = 15.6 g | 1 US cup of yogurt ≈ 250 g
- 60 g of yogurt ÷ 15.6 = 3.85 tbsp, about ¼ cup.
- 10 g of yogurt ÷ 5.2 = 1.92 tsp, about 2 tsp.
- ½ cup of yogurt = 24 × 5.2 = 124.8 g.

What is Yogurt Converter?
The Yogurt Converter is a calculator that converts grams of plain yogurt into teaspoons, tablespoons and cups. Yogurt is milk fermented by Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus cultures.
Regular yogurt keeps most of its whey, which gives a pourable texture and a weight close to milk. Indian, Middle Eastern and baking recipes list yogurt in grams, and the converter turns those weights into spoon and cup amounts.
